Professor Jens WalterÂ
Jens Walter serves as the Professor of Ecology, Food, and the Microbiome at University College Cork and the APC Microbiome Ireland. His expertise lies at the interface of evolutionary ecology of the gut microbiome and human nutrition. His research focuses on the evolutionary and ecological processes that have shaped host-microbiome symbiosis and the translation of basic microbiome science into therapeutic and nutritional strategies. Dr. Walter and his collaborators have pioneered the application of ecological theory to elucidate ecological and nutritional factors that shape gut microbiomes and have achieved targeted modulations of microbiomes via dietary strategies and live microbes.
Professor Mary Ryan
Professor Mary Ryan lectured in Pharmacology in the RCSI under the stewardship of the now President of University of Limerick Professor Des Fitzgerald and has a special interest in Diabetes, insulin pumps, obesity, infertility, osteoporosis, hypertension, Hyperlipidaemia thyroid disease and chronic fatigue. She was appointed Consultant Physician and Endocrinology to Barringtons Hospital in 2001 and also to Aut Even Hospital in Kilkenny where she runs four clinics per month. She is on the Women’s Heart Advisory Group for the Irish Heart Foundation and lectured to the public in the Royal College of Physicians Dublin on prevention of Type 2 Diabetes.

Dr. Daniel Jones
Dr. Daniel Jones graduated from the University College Dublin with a PhD in Physiology focusing on inflammation and metabolic syndromes, following BSc in Biology and Biochemistry. Prior to this, Daniel spent years developing therapeutics for diabetes and metabolic syndromes within the University of Pennsylvania and US pharmaceutical industry. It was during this period which Daniel developed a passion for nutrition and proactive healthcare as much of his research within pharmaceuticals was underpinned by mechanisms within nutrition. Dr. Jones has nearly 15 years experience formulating innovative and efficacious, globally shipped and award winning health
formulations.
Oonagh O'Hagan
Oonagh O’Hagan is a pharmacist, award-winning entrepreneur, and global business leader transforming healthcare retail. A Trinity College Dublin graduate with almost 30 year’s experience in community pharmacy, she leads Meaghers Pharmacy Group—10 Dublin-based stores and a global e-commerce platform serving 80+ countries.
Her leadership has earned her titles like Irish Tatler Businesswoman of the Year and WMB Entrepreneur of the Year, while Meaghers has been recognized as a Deloitte Best Managed Company (Platinum) and Retail Excellence Employer of the Year.
